Bonus: Parents can opt in to the Boots Parenting Club to unlock 8 points per £1 spent on baby products! That’s effectively an 8% cashback rate, money win!
What products can I recycle?
The scheme is specifically designed to help you recycle items you aren’t able to at home. They only accept products that cannot be recycled at home which includes products made of composite materials like make-up palettes and lipsticks, small cosmetics like travel minis and some baby products like formula tubs.
The app has a handy guide to the recycling symbols to look out for and how to tell which products will be accepted. They also have a guide to which products are eligible that you can search before uploading your empty.

Some of our most used baby products are on here like wipes packets and formula tubs. Think how many of them you go through and have potentially just been putting in the bin when empty. Now you can turn that rubbish into a Boots voucher!
My favourite product to recycle through this scheme is nappy packets. I, like most parents, go through so many nappy packets, especially at the beginning so I loved getting rewarded for recycling these.

Don’t have a baby? Not a problem. There are hundreds of beauty products eligible for the scheme. This scheme isn’t marketed at parents it’s just such a good hack for new parents to get something back for all the new products we have to buy and bulldoze through.
You can use the scheme to recycle loads of different beauty products that you’d normally just throw away. They accept things like travel minis, empty makeup and skincare products plus finished deodorants and sanitary pad packets. The list goes on and on. I promise you there will be something on there that you use and would be able to recycle.
How do I claim my voucher?
Once you have dropped off your 5 empties, you will be able to claim your voucher in the Recycle at Boots app. This voucher will be for “500 Advantage Card Points when you spend £10 or more in-store”. That’s the equivalent of £5 back on a £10 spend.
Boots have recently changed the terms and conditions on receiving and redeeming your vouchers so make sure to check them so you don’t miss out on your bonus points.

After dropping off your 5 empties, you must redeem the bonus points voucher on the same day. To get the bonus points, you need to spend at least £10 in-store at Boots. The 500 bonus points (equivalent of £5) will then be added to your Advantage Card balance to be spent whenever you wish.
Top tip: apparently the vouchers don’t work at self-checkouts so be sure to spend your £10 at a person operated till to make sure you get your £5 back.
Can I do this more than once?
Yes! You can claim 500 bonus points for 5 empties as many times as you want. Just make sure to break up your deposits as if you add in more than 5 items at one go you will still only get 500 points back. Plus you only need to spend £10 to unlock the points so it might be worth splitting up bigger Boots shops to get as many points as you can if have lots of empties.
NEW: Get points for recycling your empty medicine blister packs

On top of their beauty recycling rewards scheme, Boots recently launched a medicine scheme where for every 5 empty blister packets you recycle you’ll get 100 Advantage card points when you spend £5 in-store. That’s £1 in points value for a £5 spend.
This counts for both prescription and non-prescription medications so long as they are not a controlled substance.
There we go, a breakdown of how the Boots Recycle Scheme works. This is such an easy way to get money back for your rubbish, especially if you already shop at Boots regularly or can easily switch where you shop for some of your products! Have you heard of this scheme before?
