Although I love a matcha, paying over £5 for one never feels like a good use of money. And if you try to be savvy like me, you’ll be on the hunt for ways to get the same little luxuries much cheaper.

I use a few schemes to get cheap coffee and have a few hacks to share too…

Become a Three Customer

Three customers get multiple chances a week to bag a £1 coffee with their rewards scheme.

Recently, I jumped on a boosted cashback offer with TopCashback to get an 80GB monthly sim for free for 12 months. Unfortunately, this offer is no longer available but you can still get cashback on Three SIM plans which reduce the cheapest option from £7/month to just £4/month for 30GB of data. Great deal! Plus you’ll then they access to the Three+ rewards program where you can get a £1 coffee every week.

Check out the Three SIM deals on TopCashback here.

If you are already a Three customer or you jump on a cashback offer you can then take advantage of the following rewards…

Three+ Caffe Nero £1 Codes

Every week Three+ release a batch of Caffe Nero £1 coffee codes. These are first come first served and they go quickly so you need to be on the ball to grab one to get cheap coffee before they run out.

If you get one you can enjoy any barista made drink from a participating Caffe Nero for just £1, inlcuding any extras like syrups or alternative milks.

Three+ £1 Coffee Network

Three have teamed up with coffee shops all over the UK to offer members a £1 coffee every single week. You simply need to log into the Three+ members app to see which coffee shops are particpating in a given week, get a code and go to claim your £1 coffee.

Places like PAUL, Wenzels and Cineworld are all apart of the Three+ coffee network.

Octopus Energy

If you are an Octopus Energy customer you can redeem a free drink from Caffe Nero or Greggs every week. Customers can claim one per week with tens of thousands of codes going live across the month.

Not already an Octopus Energy customer? Learn more about them here plus get a £50 reward for signing up.

Sign up for Loyalty Schemes

There’s no point paying hundreds for coffee and getting nothing in return right? Right! So make sure to sign up for any coffee shop loyalty schemes to get cheap coffee by cashing in on the rewards.

It’s not just the big boys who offer reward schemes! I find a lot of local independents will have their own version. A few of mine do stamp cards where you collect stamps and then can redeem a freebie after a certain amount of coffees.

Plus a lot of reward schemes have sign up rewards so you could get a free coffee just for signing up.

Starbucks

At Starbucks you collect stars based on how much you spend. You simply scan the Starbucks app and then use those stars to redeem free drinks or food items. You get 10 stars for every £1 you spend and rewards start from 130 stars. Plus they often run promotions where you can earn double stars or bonuses when you use the app which are worth looking out for.

After you’ve collected 2500 stars, you’ll become a Gold Member which unlocks even more rewards, like a free Birthday Drink and free upgrades.

Costa Coffee

The Costa Club rewards you in beans for the amount of barista drinks you buy instore. This replaced the Costa Card a few years ago. You earn 1 bean for every drink you buy and 10 beans equals a free drink.

You can speed up your freebie by using a reuseable cup to collect 2 beans per drink and by taking advantage of treat drops which often offer double beans.

Plus as a Costa Club member you’ll get bonus rewards like free cake on your birthday!

Caffe Nero

Collect virtual stamps for every coffee you buy at Caffe Nero, inlcuding the £1 ones through Three+. After you’ve collected 9 stamps, you’ll get your 10th coffee for free.

Not already got the app? Download with this referral link to get a free coffee once you collect your first stamp. That’s essentially buy one get one free!

Redeem Cashback Gift Cards

Did you know you can redeem cashback in the form of gift cards? Plus sometimes they will be boosted so you’ll get even more money.

Boosted gift cards through TopCashback

Signing up for TopCashback is free, plus if you’re a new user you can get a £10 welcome bonus when you first earn cashback. Collect cashback on your normal spending and then redeem the cashback in the form of Starbucks, Costa or Caffe Nero and get at least 4% extra.

This way you can get cheap coffee using bonus money from money you were already planning on spending. Ultimate money win!
