4 Top Tips for Selling More on Vinted

Looking for a way to declutter your space and also make some extra money at the same time? You need to start selling on Vinted! Keep reading for my top tips for selling on vinted.

Vinted is an online marketplace where you can sell and buy clothes, shoes and accessories. It is free to join and sellers pay no fees, meaning you keep 100% of the sale price.

I have been selling mine (and my kids) unwanted clothes on Vinted for years and have made hundreds doing so. It’s a great side hustle to bring in a little extra income without a tonne of effort. And if you are just listing items to declutter and not as a reselling business you are classed as a casual seller so you don’t have to declare any earnings. Meaning this is a tax-free side hustle!

But how do you actually get sales? As an experienced second-hand seller, these are some easy-to-incorporate tips to help you sell MORE of your items.

1. Photos are Everything

Make sure you capture good quality photos as this is what the buyer will judge the item on first and foremost. Use natural lighting to make the item look more appealing and capture multiple angles.

You need to show any flaws and take photos of specific details like the size & tag. If the item is a well-known, desirable designer or retailer, make sure you get a photo of the brand name.

Try and take photos with a plain background and on a hanger. A busy background can distract attention from the actual item.

    2. Be Realistic with Pricing

You have to be realistic with pricing. Make sure you add up how much the buyer will be paying after postage & buyer protection fees. Is it worth it for them?

Offering bundle discounts will encourage people to buy multiple items from you and let people make offers.

Before setting your own price, do a quick search and compare the pricing of similar items being sold. You want to be competitive to sway people to buy your items instead of someone else’s.

    3. Detailed Description

Make sure you include EVERYTHING in your descriptions to avoid back and forth in your messages. Include any sizes or measurements, condition of the item, any flaws or defects, and personal details like if the item comes small/big.

Plus include keywords such as brand name/colour/style so it’s easily searchable. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to just purchase the item instantly.

    4. Communication is Key

Good communication is key to being a successful seller on Vinted. Communicate when you’ll be posting items to encourage people to buy from you AND when people have bought from you. This will prompt more positive reviews which in return will lead to more sales.

If someone favourites your item, drop them a message. Maybe even offer them a slightly lower price to encourage a sale.
